COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Flood insurance is available for any property owner within the City of Coldwater.
Coldwater City Manager Keith Baker recalled it about this time last year when Pilot Knob was hit with a significant flood following five inches of rain and a quick snow melt.
He pointed out during this past Monday’s City Council meeting that the City participates in the National Flood Insurance Program as administered through the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
As a part of the City’s participation in the program, Baker says they provide information regarding the flood hazard for properties within the community.
The city’s Neighborhood Services Department has Flood Insurance Rate Maps available for those within the Special Flood Hazard Area that are within the city limits as of the most recently adopted FIRM maps which were effective April 19, 2010.
You can look at the maps by visiting the Neighborhood Services Department in City Hall. More information can be found at www.fema.gov.
