COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In girls high school soccer, Quincy won the Battle of the Birds for a second straight year Thursday night, beating Coldwater 2-1 on the Cardinals home field.
Maddie Hinds opened the scoring for the Orioles with 15: 28 to play in the first half on a rebound off a blocked shot. Katie Rathbun then scored on a long range shot 11:25 to make it 2-0 at the half.
The Cardinals scored their lone goal from Samantha Rodesiler, assisted by Allison Miller, with 13:02 to play in the game. Emily Fagen made two saves in goal for Coldwater, as they outshot Quincy 11-5 on the night.
With the win, Quincy improved to 2-2 on the season, while Coldwater falls to 1-1-2.
