COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater went 2-1 and finished third Saturday at their Pat Lowe Memorial Invitational Tournament. After losing to eventual tournament champion Mattawan 18-0, the Cardinals bounced back to defeat Dundee 10-0 and Traverse City Central 13-8.
Brady McFarland was the winning pitcher against Dundee as he struck out five in four innings and collected three hits at the plate. Aiden Marsden had an RBI double. Marsden and McFarland both scored twice.
Austin Roby struck out three and allowed just two hits in four innings of work to get the win against Traverse City Central. Austin Santure doubled and drove in three runs. Hunter St. Clair had two hits.
The Cardinals are now 6-5.
Bronson lost both ends of a doubleheader at Jackson Lumen Christi by scores of 6-0 and 14-12. Mason Harris and Graham Eley both had three RBI’s in the second game. Harris, Kameron Haviland, Reagan Mayer and Hudson Wotta all had two hits. The Vikings are now 4-6.
Union City lost to Sand Creek 7-2 and then defeated Constantine 11-10 in the consolation game of their Rotary Tournament at Alumni Field. Connor Elgan had three hits against the Falcons. Larson Kever had four RBI’s in the two games. The Chargers are now 3-2.
—GIRLS SOFTBALL—
Coldwater went 0-3 in their invitational tournament. They lost to Olivet 7-0, Portland Saint Patrick 11-9 and to Coopersville 12-9. Autumn Sunderland homered against Saint Patrick. She and Alyssa Bach both had three hits. Mia Rzepka had four hits against Coopersville while Bach had three hits.
Union City lost to Michigan Center 16-0 before defeating Harper Creek 3-1 in the consolation game of their Invitational Tournament as Quinn Adams was the winning pitcher.
