COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Community Schools Superintendent Terry Boguth told the district’s Board of Education Monday night that the new fourth and fifth grade building on Western Avenue will keep the name of Lakeland Elementary.
Groundbreaking for the new building took place last Wednesday. It is scheduled to open in December of 2020.
In other business, the board approved a one-year contract extension with Chartwell’s Food Service for food service management.
Contracts between school districts and food service companies run for five years. Boguth said this would be the last of four possible one year contract extensions with Chartwells. The contract will have to be put up for bid next year.
Meanwhile, Coldwater High School senior Selena Hostetler, who was one of only 113 students in the world to earn every point possible on the AP United States Government and Politics Exam, told the board she has decided to attend Princeton University in fall. She has not decided what field of study she will pursue.
