UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The process of selecting a new Superintendent in the Union City Community School District is over.
It originally called for two rounds of candidate interviews to start next week but after interviewing Hillsdale Intermediate School District Superintendent Ronna Steel earlier this month, the board has selected her for the Superintendent’s job.
Steel previously worked in the Union City district as a principal at the middle school and high school. She was also in charge of special education implementation.
Steel has also worked as a Superintendent of the Barry Intermediate School District and Maple Valley Schools.
The Michigan Leadership Institute was used by the Union City district to help in the facilitation of the selection process. They were used by the Quincy Community School District and the Branch Intermediate School District in their recent searches for superintendents.
Steel will start her new job July 1, 2019. She is taking over for Pat Kreger, who is retiring after working 21 years for the Union City School District. He has served the last 12 years as superintendent.
