Marilyn L. Fitts, 90, of Tekonsha, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Marshall Nursing & Rehab, under the care of Oaklawn Hospice.
A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 29, 2019 at Lighthouse of Tekonsha, 616 N. Main Street, Tekonsha, with Elder David Sherfield of the Coldwater Church of Christ officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Tekonsha. Visitation will be held just prior to the funeral, from 1:00-2:00 PM on Monday, April 29, 2019, also at Lighthouse of Tekonsha.
Marilyn was born on July 15, 1928 in Tekonsha on the family farm, to Lester and Verna (Palmer) Blackwell. She married Joseph Fitts on October 18, 1958 in Tekonsha at the family farm. She lived in the Battle Creek and Tekonsha areas. Marilyn worked for Wolverine Insurance Company in Battle Creek as a data processor. She loved flower gardening, bird watching, traveling and her cat, “Blackie.”
Marilyn is survived by siblings, Melvin (Barbara) Blackwell and Marjorie Lloyd; nieces, Connie Mack, Susan Putnam, Judy (David) Shedd, Barbara (Bill) Maurer, Cathy (Andy) VanOrder and nephew, John Lloyd; and several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother-in-law, Darrell Lloyd, and stepmothers Mable (Long) Blackwell and Grace (Shedd) Blackwell.
