COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Saturday is National Drug Take Back Day and health and law enforcement officials are working together to get surplus prescription drugs off the streets of Southwest Michigan.
Michigan State Police posts and sheriffs departments across the state will have drop off points.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Office has a drop off box in their front lobby which is available 24 hours a day.
Bronson Healthcare Groupl will host take back events at hospitals in Kalamazoo, Battle Creek and South Haven.
The drugs collected will be handed over to law enforcement officers and properly destroyed.
Last year about 40,000 opioid pills were collected during the Drug Take Back Day.
