SPRING ARBOR, MI (WTVB) – In high school girls soccer, Coldwater fell to 1-3 in the Interstate 8 Conference with an 8-0 loss to Parma Western Thursday. The game was played at Spring Arbor University because of field conditions at Parma Western.
Emily Fagen made five saves in goal as the Lady Cardinals fell to 2-7-1 overall. They play in varsity only action Friday at Three Rivers.
The Coldwater JV also fell to Parma Western 8-0. They will play Jackson Northwest and Adrian at the Adrian Maples JV Invitational Saturday.
Down to just 11 players because of a number of injuries, Quincy still managed to battle Hillsdale to a 2-2 tie Thursday night on the Orioles home pitch.
Emily Hollenbaugh scored both of the Quincy goals. Quincy outshot Hillsdale 18-7.
Cancellations—
The rest of the Branch County high school sports schedule was rained out on Thursday. Coldwater’s baseball and girls softball games at Quincy were cancelled with no make up dates announced. Also cancelled were the Union City baseball game against Bellevue and the Union City girls softball game with Waldron. Coldwater’s girls tennis match at Jackson Lumen Christi was postponed until May 15th.

Several Coldwater athletes will be competing at the Saline Golden Triangle Meet of Champions. The boys participants are Matt Gipple in the long jump as well as the 100 and 200 meter dashes, Kyle Foulk in the 3200, Kathy Potter in the 1600, Elka Machan in the 3200 and the girls 3200 relay team.
