COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man was arraigned in Branch County District Court on Friday after he allegedly stole a van and resisted three police officers.
27-year-old Richard Barber was formally charged with unlawful driving away of a motor vehicle as well as three counts of assaulting, resisting and obstructing police. Bond was set at $25,000 with no ten percent allowed.
Barber was taken into custody late Wednesday morning after authorities were notified a white 2005 Chevrolet van had been stolen.
The van was eventually found in Girard which is where Barber was placed under arrest. Sheriff Deputies were assisted by a Michigan Department of Natural Resources officer.
A probable cause hearing for Barber was scheduled for May 14th with a preliminary exam set for May 21st.
