Vernon
Wilbur Fast, 93, of Marshall passed away Friday, May 3, 2019 at Grand Vista
Assisted Living in Marshall.
He was born on August 21, 1925 in North Adams to
Raymond Dallas and Harriet Alta (Foust) Fast. Vernon lived in Jonesville and
grew up in Homer, graduating from Homer High School in 1943. He married Glenna
Mae Folk in Homer on December 1, 1946 and she survives.
Vernon was
very active in the Homer activities, he played fast pitch softball, coached
pony league baseball, was a member of the Homer Lions Club, played on a bowling
league and volunteered for other activities that benefited Homer.
Survivors
include his wife Glenna of 72 years; children, Carol (Dick) Rutkoskie of
Albion, Sandra (Dick) Price of Quincy, Michael (Connie Klimp) Fast of Spring
Arbor and Brent (Mary Catherine) Fast of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Brian
(Stephanie) Price, Jason Price, Steven (Jennifer) Rutkoskie, Melissa (Dan) James,
Jill (Aaron) Murphy, Brett (Cindi) Fast, Amanda Thompson and Dan (Randi) Fast;
six great-grand sons; and six great grand daughters and several nieces and
nephews and their families.
Vernon was
preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence, Dale, Ivan and Marion
Fast; sister, Eunice Poling.
Family will
receive friends at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home, Marshall chapel on Saturday,
May 18, 2019 from 1:00pm-2:00pm. A
celebration of life will be held at the funeral home on Saturday May 18, 2019
at 2:00 PM with Pastor Tom Townsend officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at a later date.
