COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The case of a Coldwater man who is facing three child abuse charges has been bound over to Branch County Circuit Court.
20-year-old Jeffrey Wendell Ledford is facing one count of first degree child abuse as well as two second degree counts following a Coldwater Police Department investigation into alleged incidents during March 2019 involving his five month old son.
After waiving his Branch County District Court preliminary exam, which was scheduled for Tuesday morning, Ledford is scheduled to appear for a pre trial conference in Circuit Court May 20, 2019.
Coldwater Police say the investigation began shortly after the baby was taken to the emergency department at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital with unexplained head trauma. The boy was flown to Bronson Methodist Hospital where he was treated in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and later discharged.
The total bond from the three cases is $200,000.
