HOLT, MI (WTVB) – Because of soggy field conditions, the scheduled Coldwater High School baseball baseball and softball doubleheaders at Holt were cancelled Thursday. The games wil not be made up.
In baseball games that were played Thursday, Bronson scored a pair of 8-0 victories over Reading to stay unbeaten in the Big 8 conference. Blaine Robinson and Dylan Smith were the winning pitchers.
Kameron Haviland had two doubles and three RBI’s in the first game while Ryan Wisman homered in the second contest while Robinson had three hits.
Quincy split their non-conference doubleheader with Napoleon as they dropped the opener 9-7 but rallied from a 6-0 deficit to win the nightcap 14-10. The games were switched from Quincy to Napoleon due to unplayable field conditions in Quincy.
Caleb McCavit broke the school record for career RBI’s as he drove in nine during the twin bill. He also belted two homers including a grand slam. Logan Banks had five hits in the two games. Chandler Locke also had three hits and three RBI’s in the second game.
In girls softball, Bronson swept a Big 8 Conference doubleheader from Reading by scores of 12-2 and 10-1. Lynsey Smith and Aubrey Ballou were the winning pitchers. Dakota Smith and Karissa Gest both drove in two runs in the first game. Ballou homered in the second game while Gest had three hits.
Quincy split a non-conference doubleheader at Napoleon as they lost the first game 6-5 but took the nightcap 9-1. Megan Kirt homered and had two RBI’s in the first game while Hayley Wineland had three hits. Second game winning pitcher Morgan Michael recorded nine strikeouts.

Boys Golf—
Concord beat out Quincy by five shots to win the Big 8 Conference Jamboree which was hosted by Bronson on Thursday night at Bella Vista Golf Course.
