COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In high school baseball, the Coldwater offense came to life Wednesday night as the Cardinals swept an Interstate 8 Conference doubleheader from Jackson Northwest by scores of 11-10 and 15-5. Coldwater collected 23 hits in the twin bill.
After the Mounties rallied from a seven-run deficit to tie the opener at 10-10, the Cardinals got a walk off win thanks a squeeze bunt by Breyden Cook with one out in the last of the seventh which scored Austin Roby. Cook got the win if relief. Austin Santure, Logan Farmer and Brady McFarland both had two hits.
Roby had four hits and five RBI’s in the second game. Santure and Hunter St. Clair both had two hits.
In girls socftball, Coldwater was swept by Jackson Northwest in an Interstate 8 Conference doubleheader by scores of 16-0 and 10-3. The Cardinals were held to one hit in the first. The Mounties collected 21 hits in the first game and scored 11 runs in the top of the seventh.
Abby Herman and Mia Rzepka both had two hits in the second game.
