COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In high school baseball, Coldwater split a non-conference doubleheader with Lakewood Thursday night. The Cardinals won the opener 18-3 but dropped the nightcap 7-6 in nine innings.
Coldwater had a eight-run first inning and a 10-run third inning in the first game. Brady McFarland and Austin Roby both drove in four runs while Aiden Marsden had two RBI’s. Nate Tappenden was the winning pitcher.
Coldwater rallied for six runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the nightcap at 6-6 before Lakewood pulled out the victory in the ninth inning. Logan Farmer had four RBI’s in the second game.
Also in baseball, Bronson split a doubleheader at Parma Western on Thursday as the Vikings won the first game 9-6 but lost the nightcap 12-1. Ryan Wisman paced an 18-hit attack in the opener with four hits while Hudson Wotta homered and drove in five runs. Graham Eley was the winning pitcher. Mason Harris earned the save.
Brendan Withington had two hits in the second game.
In girls softball, Bronson dropped both ends of a doubleheader at Parma Western by scores of 7-4 and 25-15. Lynsey Smith had a grand slam and five RBI’s in the second game while Maddie Ratkowski had three hits and drove in four runs.
