COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City of Coldwater Planning Commission will be asked Monday night to approve a Special Land Use Permit from an applicant who is interested in selling small lots of hardwood lumber and handmade wooden furniture.
The request from Two Fellers Live Edge Lumber would be for the buildings at 32 and 36 East Chicago, as the owners are hoping they will become a new downtown destination.
The Special Land Use Permit petition would be for the development of a Light Manufacturing and Final Product Assembly use in conjunction with a Retail Sales use for the property.
City Planner Dean Walrack says in his report for Monday’s meeting that the furniture would be assembled onsite, which is a use that is not specifically identified within the zoning ordinance.
He says the applicant is seeking Special Use permission from the City for the furniture assembly portion of the operation.
