HILLSDALE, MI (WTVB) – The Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office honored two men on Wednesday who gave their lives in the line of duty.
The ceremony was part of National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Day.
Thanks to outside donations, a monument has been constructed and engraved at the front of the Sheriff’s Office with the names of the two men that died.
Deputy Nelson R. Cook was struck and killed in 1903 while taking a suspect to jail. Undersheriff Harland O. Wood was killed in 1930 while trying to make an arrest on a warrant for forgery.
Branch County Sheriff John Pollack joined numerous members of the Hillsdale County law enforcement community at Wednesday’s ceremony.
