JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy High School girls track and field team captured their eighth regional title Saturday at the MHSAA Division Three Girls Track Regional meet hosted by East Jackson, as two school records were broken. Madelyn Allman broke her own record as she won the 300 hurdles in a time of 46.19 seconds. She also finished second in the 100 hurdles.
Quincy placed in all four relays. A new Quincy school record was set in the 400 relay as the team of Allman, Jessica Holcomb, Nikkia Cronk and Mackenzie Horsfall won in a time of 50.71. The team of Emily Hollenbaugh, Horsfall, Holcomb, and Cronk also won the 800 relay. Quincy had third place finishes in the 1600 and 3200 relays.
Holcomb won the long jump and was third in the 100. Hollenbaugh was second in the high jump while Makinzie Groves was third in the pole vault. Cronk also qualified for the state meet in 200.
The Quincy boys finished sixth out of 16 teams and qualified four for the State track meet. Ian Trall was second in the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles. The 400 meter relay team Trall, Axel Beltran, Alex Pickell, and Devan Fisher ran their best time of the season (45.09) and qualified for states with a second place finish.
Union City’s boys were 11th while the girls finished 14th at the East Jackson regionals. Gavin Hooker was second in the 100 and the 200 while Josh Watson was third in the high jump. Lillian Bambacht was fourth in the 300 hurdles.
Division Three at Centreville—
The Bronson girls were third while the boys were 13th at the MHSAA Division Three Regional meet at Centreville. Jenna Salek won the regional championship in the 200 and 400 meters. Madelyn Thompson won the discus and was third in the shot put. Xochitl Garcia was third in the 1600 and fourth in the 3200. The 3200 relay team was fourth. Alanna Mayer was fifth in the pole vault.
In the boys meet, Bronson’s Luis Ortiz was third in the 3200.
