COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In high school softball Tuesday, Coldwater dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Harper Creek by scores of 6-4 and 7-6 as they closed out the Interstate 8 Conference portion of the schedule on Senior Night and Parents Night.
The Beavers scored five runs in the fourth inning to take control of the opener. Autumn Sunderland and Mallory Kissinger both had two hits in the opener.
Sunderland homered in the second game as part of a five-run rally for the Cardinals in the last of the last of the seventh which fell one run short. McDonald’s Player of the Game Mia Rzepka had a two-run triple during that rally. Mallory Wilber had two hits.
Quincy clinched at least a share of the Big 8 Conference title as they swept a doubleheader at Jonesville by scores of 7-2 and 9-1. Rylei Sunday had three RBI’s in the first game while Mick Signor and Megan Kirt both had three hits. Morgan Michael was the winning pitcher.
Second game winning pitcher Kelsey Mainstone had two hits along Hayley Wineland and Sunday. Signor and Wineland both had two RBI’s.
Union City dropped both ends of a doubleheader with Mendon by scores of 9-1 and 18-2. Quinnlyn Adams recorded eight strike outs in the first game for the Chargers.
