COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Six teacher-led initiatives in the Coldwater Community School district will receive nearly $5,000 in financial support from the Enrichment Fund held at the Branch County Community Foundation.
Anne Marso made a presentation on the grants to the Coldwater Board of Education Monday and said this year’s grants were awarded out of the 12 applications that were submitted this year.
Since the fund was established in 2005, 46 grants totaling nearly $30,000 has been awarded to local teachers. The grant funds are used to improve classrooms and enhance the learning experience for students.
Coldwater High School English teachers Alaina Pung and Jason Hall were awarded $500 to purchase books for literature classes; The Legg Middle School English Team received $2,500 to support the One school, One Book Project; Lori Schmidt at Lakeland Elementary got $500 to support the Readers are Leaders program; Jay Henry will get $599 to replace an outdated ipad mini for the Swivl robot; Lindsey Hughes at Lakeland Elementary got $500 to help purchase a Jennifer Serravallos reading comprehension kit, and Kayla Trnka at Jefferson and Lakeland Elementary Schools got $400 for two art display panels.
