BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – Kellogg Community College President Mark O’Connell announced his retirement on Wednesday night from the college after 29 years of service.
He told the K.C.C. Board of Trustees during its regular monthly meeting that he will retire December 31, 2019, after the conclusion of the Fall 2019 semester.
After accepting O’Connell’s notice of retirement, Board Chairman Steve Claywell said O’Connell has been a strong leader and collaborator who will be deeply missed.
Several board trustees also spoke of their appreciation for O’Connell and the roles he has played at the College over the years.
O’Connell oversaw more than $100 million worth of improvements and new construction at the College’s campuses in Battle Creek, Albion, Coldwater and Hastings.
Claywell said the Board will lay out a presidential search plan and timeline during its regular meeting in June, with the intention of naming a new president before December 31.
