Richard Leland Waffle, 65, of Tekonsha, passed away in Battle Creek at the home of his son on Friday, May 24, 2019, under the care of Oaklawn Hospice.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at 12 Noon on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at the Union Church UCC of Tekonsha with Pastor Jennifer Fair officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Tekonsha. Visitation will be held from 10 AM-12 Noon at the church, just prior to the service on Tuesday, May 28, 2019. The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation.
Richard was born on July 6, 1953 in Albion, MI to Ernest and Kathleen (Boyd) Waffle. His father delivered him in a car on the way to the hospital. After graduating from Albion High School, on August 29, 1972 he married the former Theresa Dameron; however, that union ended in divorce. Richard became a master mechanic and worked for the Calhoun County Road Commission. He most recently retired from Bilickes in Albion. He enjoyed farming, hunting and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include Richard’s mother, Kathleen Mederios, of Tahitian Springs, FL; his father, Ernie Waffle of Tekonsha, MI; his children, Ben Waffle of Battle Creek, Mary Miller of Battle Creek and Jorie (Anthony) DiCamillo of Henderson, NV; grandchildren, Damon, Hunter and Sapphire Miller, Markenji Waffle and Leonzio & Quintino DiCamillo; and his siblings, Yvonne Waffle of Albion, Patrick (Lora) Waffle of Deridder, LA, and Mike Waffle of Tekonsha.
He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Billie Waffle.
