PLAINWELL, MI (WTVB) – The late season surge for the Coldwater girls soccer team came to an end Tuesday, with a 6-0 MHSAA district semi final loss to Plainwell.
The Lady Cardinals only trailed 1-0 at the half, and had two close range scoring opportunities turned away just before halftime. Plainwell scored three goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half to put the game out of reach.
Emily Fagen made seven saves in goal as Plainwell outshot Coldwater 15-7. Coldwater, who had won four of their last five games before Tuesday, finishes the season at 7-14-2.
Plainwell advances to the district final on their home field against Gull Lake Thursday. Gull Lake topped Harper Creek 3-0 last night in the other district semifianal.
In the Division Four district semifinal at Kalamazoo Christian tonight, Quincy takes on Schoolcraft at 6:00 p.m. The winner plays either Kalamazoo Christian or Kalamazoo Hackett for district title Friday at 6:00 p.m..
