HILLSDALE, MI (WTVB) – A Reading woman was arraigned Tuesday in Hillsdale County District Court in connection with the shooting of a man over the holiday weekend.
55-year-old Tamra Jo Vanbuskirk is facing charges of Assault with Intent to Commit Murder, Felony Firearm and Possession of a Firearm While Intoxicated. Her bond had been set at $305,000 with ten percent allowed.
She was taken into custody without further incident at her residence on Balcom Road after deputies were sent there at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
When they arrived, deputies found 54-year-old Stephen Patrick Wertz on the deck of the home suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso.
After getting emergency medical treatment from deputies until EMS crews arrived, Wertz was taken to Hillsdale Community Hospital before being transferred to the University of Michigan Burn and Trauma Unit in Ann Arbor.
At last report, Wertz was listed in critical condition.
The shooting is still being investigated by the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department.
