UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – In high school baseball, it was survive and advance for the Bronson Vikings Wednesday afternoon as they kept their season alive with a come from behind 4-3 victory over Watervliet in the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division Three Regional semifinals at Alumni Field in Union City.
Bronson trailed 3-0 after five innings but started the comeback by scoring two runs in the top of the sixth. With two outs in the top of the seventh and Bronson down a run, Senior Ryan Wisman roped a base hit to left to score fellow senior Brett Sikorski which tied the game 3-3. One batter later, Sophomore Blaine Robinson crushed a double off the left field fence to score Reagan Mayer with what turned out to be the winning run.
Senior Kameron Haviland pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the 7th inning to earn the victory in relief and send the Vikings to the Regional Final Saturday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. in Coloma against Buchanan. Wisman led the Vikings offense with three hits while Mayer scored twice.
Buchanan advanced to Coloma with a 6-3 victory over Parchment. The winner of the Bronson-Buchanan game will play either top-ranked Pewamo-Westphalia or Stanton Central Montcalm in the Coloma Super Regional game at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Despite the two hour bus ride and having to play their third game in three days, Stevensville-Lakeshore romped to a 14-1 victory over Marshall Wednesday night in the Division Two regional semifinals at Lowe Field in Coldwater.
The Lancers advanced to the Edwardsburg regional final to play Otsego Saturday.
