QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Two children were killed Friday evening when a pickup truck rear ended an Amish horse drawn carriage on Kelly Road south of Lester Road in Algansee Township.
Michigan State Police say the accident happened just after 6:00 p.m..
Five children and two adults were ejected from the carriage. Troopers confirm two children, ages six and two, were pronounced dead at the scene.
A four year old also suffered life threatening injuries while an adult female in the carriage sustained serious injuries.
The injured carriage occupants were transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne and Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo.
The driver of the pickup was taken into custody. Since the investigation is ongoing, the State Police will not release the names of the injured and of the pickup driver.
Quincy firefighters, Life Care Ambulance Air Care and Samaritan Air all assisted at the scene.
