MARSHALL, MI (WTVB) – A 29-year-old Marshall woman was injured Tuesday morning in a crash on I-94 at the 114 mile marker which closed both eastbound lanes of the interstate for about 90 minutes.
Michigan State Police say the accident happened about 4:15 a.m. when the woman’s vehicle rear ended a semi-tractor and trailer.
As a result, the front end of the vehicle slid underneath the trailer, causing the unidentified driver to be trapped inside.
She had to be extricated from the vehicle and airlifted to an undisclosed hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
Surrounding agencies assisting included the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department, Marshall Area Fire Paramedics and the Marengo Township Fire Department.
The crash caused additional accidents that took place as a result of the traffic backup and were handled by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department.
The original accident was cleared by 7:15 a.m..
