COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A video arraignment has been scheduled for next Wednesday in Branch County District Court for a Coldwater man with a 25 year criminal record who is facing six charges following a violent domestic incident with a woman last July.
According to the Michigan Department of Corrections website, 44-year-old Michael Christman is currently serving a sentence of 15 to 24 months in the Muskegon Correctional Facility on charges of resisting, assaulting or obstructing a police officer and escape from lawful custody.
Christman got into a fight with police last August at a apartment on Coldwater’s east side. After he was taken into custody, Christman tried to escape but was captured a short distance away.
His earliest release date from prison is January 23, 2020.
Christman is facing four counts of criminal sexual conduct in connection with the July incident along with charges of unlawful imprisonment and using a weapon to commit a felony.
