COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County 911 Central Dispatch saluted retiring Coldwater Director of Public Safety Mark Bartell Thursday afternoon with a final radio call for his 38 years of law enforcement service to Branch County.
Thursday was Bartell’s last day on the job. His retirement becomes official at the end of the month.
The final call is a tradition which honors retiring police and firefighters for their years of service during their last day at work.
Bartell began his law enforcement career with the East Lansing Police Department. He then served the Branch County Sheriff’s Department under the supervision of Sheriff Norm Heinemann.
Bartell began his career with the City of Coldwater in 1981. He eventually became Director of Public Safety in 2012.
