GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WTVB) – The National Weather Service dropped the Flash Flood Watch for Branch, St. Joseph, Hillsdale and Steuben Counties at midday Thursday, but they extended the Flood Advisory for Calhoun, Kalamazoo, Ingham, Barry and Eaton Counties until late Friday morning.
Doppler radar and automated rain gauges late Thursday morning indicated that two to four inches of rain had fallen across the advisory area.
Doppler radar indicates that the heaviest rain has fallen from Otsego and Portage east through Kalamazoo to Battle Creek to Charlotte.
Minor flooding in the advisory area will likely continue into Friday.
The rain was heavy enough to cause flooding at Western Michigan University’s Waldo Stadium and bring down an overhead canopy at the Mendon Shell Station.
