COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County, along with Hillsdale and St. Joseph Counties in Michigan and Steuben County in northeast Indiana, is under a Flash Flood Watch until 5:00 p.m. Thursday .The watch covers the southern border counties of Michigan along with all of Indiana and Ohio.
To show we are not alone in what has turned out to be a soggy spring and early summer, there are flash flood watches in effect from northeast Missouri all the way east to New Jersey.
Meanwhile, Calhoun and Kalamazoo Counties are under a Flood Advisory until late Thursday morning.
The National Weather Service says heavy rainfall remains possible through early afternoon. Saturated ground from recent rainfall coupled with torrential rain that falls from slow moving showers and thunderstorms could quickly runoff and create flooding. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible.
Rapid rises of streams, creeks and rivers are possible given saturated soils. Roads in poor drainage areas may become impassable with water flowing across them.
