Kenneth was born on February 20, 1944 in Coldwater, Michigan to Robert Lee and Bertha Mae (Cutler) Jeffries. He attended the Seventh-day Adventist Academy in Kalamazoo as a young man.
He met Shirley Ann Morgan in the late 1950s and the two married on October 4, 1961 in Kalamazoo. The couple made their home in Burlington, where Ken has lived ever since.
Mr. Jeffries had worked as a delivery person for the Coldwater Regional Center for about 18 years and then continued on at Michigan Lottery offices in Lansing, also driving a delivery truck.
He was a longtime member of the Burlington Seventh-day Adventist Church and served as Head Deacon. He worked hard keeping the church yard mowed and looking great. In his younger years, Ken drove in the local stock car races and enjoyed riding motorcycles.
He was a fun-loving, easy going guy who loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He would just light up when they came around. His other love was fishing, although his declining health had prevented him from getting out in the last few years.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 58 years, Shirley Jeffries, his children Jacklyn (Harley) Gibson of Burlington and Debbie (Howard) Upston of Tekonsha, his adopted daughter Christine McGee of TN, his siblings Eddie (Ruby) Jeffries of Goshen, IN, Daniel (Theresa) Jeffries of Three Rivers, Elizabeth (Ken) Slone of Goshen, IN, Judy Bordine of Sturgis, and Kathy (Mike) Alexander of Centreville, 17 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and his beloved dog “Muffy.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Rodney Jeffries, Sr., in 2012, his adopted son, Lee Hamilton, in 1987 and his brother, David Jeffries.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Burlington SDA Church, 320 W Main St, Burlington, MI 49029 in support of their Community Service Center.
