COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It was a long overdue weekend of sunshine in Branch County as the rain held off until Sunday night in Coldwater.
The Michigan State University Extension weather station at the Bloom Dairy Farm west of Coldwater measured .04 of an inch of rain, which marked the ninth Sunday out of the last 11 that rain has been measured in Coldwater.
Flood watches that included Calhoun and Kalamazoo Counties have been dropped by the National Weather Service but there are still concerns about high water levels in rivers and streams as over a foot of rain has been measured throughout southwest Michigan since the first of April.
Showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast for Monday but after a somewhat cool month of June, temperatures are expected to be near or above seasonal normal readings this week.
There was some rough weather in South Bend on Sunday night. WNDU-TV reports a tornado on the south side of the city badly damaged a daycare and brought down trees and power lines. There were sightings of funnel clouds as well.
