COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater City Police say a Hillsdale County woman was arrested Saturday night following a high speed chase on the I-69 Business Loop which ended when the suspect lost control of her vehicle on a curve, coming to a stop on the lawn of a car repair business.
The woman, who lives in Reading Township, is also expected in the same case to face home invasion and auto theft charges in Hillsdale County.
According to Coldwater Police, the incidents began around 9:00 p.m. Saturday at a residence in Allen Township, where the woman walked into the home of a man whose front screen door was open. The occupant confronted the suspect, who authorities said then spotted a set of car keys on a table, ran out of the house and stole the man’s 2016 Jeep Wrangler.
Coldwater City Police say the vehicle was witnessed by officers headed southbound on the I-69 Business Loop at a high rate of speed just south of the intersection with US 12. Police say the woman was combative with officers when they attempted to take her into custody and was suspected to be under the influence of methamphetamine.
Her name is being withheld pending arraignment today in Branch County District Court.
