COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch Area Careers Center was placed on lockdown and nearby streets were shut off for a short time on Tuesday morning due to a man who was reported to be suicidal and armed at a nearby residence.
Coldwater Police, the Branch County Sheriff’s Office and the Michigan State Police to the 300 block of Morse Street just after 10:00 a.m.
A perimeter was set up after a weapon was seen. The man’s father was credited with helping authorites end the situation.
The man was peacefully taken into custody at his home just after 11:00 a.m. and the all clear was sounded afterwards.
He was then taken to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital for an examination.
