UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – There is just over a month before the fund raising deadline for a proposed Senior Center in Union City and village officials say a significant amount of money still needs to be raised.
The owner of the old Putnam Funeral Home building has promised to hold the building while the fundraising takes place.
With the August 31, 2019 deadline looming, only about $13,000 has been raised through local donations which is well short of the $150,000 total needed for the property and renovations.
According to a post on the Village’s Facebook page, if the project does not meet its goals and can’t move forward, all donations will be refunded.

A committee was formed last January to collect donations for the purchase of the building in hopes it could be turned into a multiple use facility in Union City not only for senior citizens but for other residents as well.
The Village partnered with the Branch County Community Foundation for the fundraiser. The Foundation helped in the fundraising for the Rick Mears Amphitheater project.
