UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The Union City High School 1979 Big Eight Conference championship football team will be honored on the 40th anniversary of their achievement during the Chargers game against defending state champion Reading September 27, during the annual Team of Fame game at Alumni Field.
The ’79 Chargers went 7-0 in the Big Eight and 7-2 overall. The Big 8 Conference football title was the first in school history and the first for long time coach Eric Tundevold. Vern AcMoody was his assistant coach.
The coaches, managers, and players from that team will be introduced at halftime during the September 27, 2019 game, and there will be a pregame tailgate starting at 5:30 p.m..
