COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The case of a South Bend, Indiana woman who is facing five counts following a confrontation with the Branch County Sheriff’s Department and Michigan State Police has been bound over to Branch County Circuit Court.
24-year-old Natasha Martinez is scheduled to appear for a pretrial conference September 9, 2019 after she waived a Branch County District Court preliminary examination that was scheduled for Tuesday.
Authorities were called to a location on Sprague Road in Coldwater Township on a report of an unwanted suspect. Court documents indicate her ex-boyfriend and another man had previously ordered her not to be on the property.
Martinez was taken into custody after she allegedly tried to run away from a State Trooper. Court documents also say she resisted while being placed under arrest. During the struggle, she allegedly bit a trooper on his arm and tried to grab a taser and a weapon.
Martinez has been charged with resisting, obstructing or assaulting an officer causing injury. She is also facing two other counts for resisting an officer, attempted disarming of a police officer and trespassing.
