COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County voters overwhelmingly approved a pair of millage renewal requests on Tuesday for 911 Central Dispatch and the Branch Area Transit Authority.
The Enhanced 911 Central Dispatch one mill, ten year proposal was passed 1,931 to 881. The one mill covered the renewal of 0.8645 mills which expires with the 2020 tax levy and a increase of 0.1355 mills. The millage would commence with the tax levied in December 2021.
The five year BATA millage proposal that is not to exceed .35 of one mill passed 1,934 to 878. The millage will support the local transit system and would commence with the 2020 tax levy.
Voters in Matteson and Sherwood Townships also cast ballots on a sinking fund millage request for Colon Community Schools and it passed 276-200.
The turnout of registered voters in Branch County was nine percent.
The results are not official until they are certified by the Branch County Board of Canvassers.
