SPRING ARBOR TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Two Coldwater residents were killed and two others were among three persons injured on Thursday afternoon in a three vehicle crash at a Jackson County intersection.
Jackson County Sheriff Steve Rand says the crash was reported just after 4:00 p.m. on King Road at Sandstone Road in Spring Arbor Township.
Rand says a 2008 Saturn traveling south on Sandstone Road entered the intersection and struck a westbound 2016 Cadillac ATS forcing the rear of the Cadillac into the eastbound lane of King Road.
The Cadillac was then struck by an eastbound Ford Explorer. The Sheriff’s Department news release says two back seat passengers in the Cadillac, 84-year-old Harold John Ashdown and his 81-year-old wife Marilyn Jill Ashdown, were ejected from the vehicle and both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The front seat passenger of the Cadillac, a 53 year old Coldwater woman, was taken to Henry Ford Allegiance Health by Jackson Community Ambulance with severe and possibly life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Cadillac, a 53 year old man from Coldwater, was also taken to Henry Ford Allegiance with serious injuries.
The driver of the Ford Explorer, a 47 year old woman from Clarklake, was taken to Henry Ford Allegiance Health with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Saturn, a 24 year old woman from Litchfield, was not injured.
