Daniel Leonard Vond, 83, of Coldwater, passed away Friday, August 9, 2019 at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
A celebration of Daniel’s life will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City with military honors. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM, just prior to the service, Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Lighthouse.
Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Coldwater at a later date.
Daniel was born on April 26, 1936 in Marshall, MI to Daniel and Dorothy (Gordon) Vond. He grew up in Marshall and served in the U.S. Army as a young man.
On January 22, 1959, he married the former Ina Rose Cole in Marshall. They made their home in Coldwater and raised their children there.
Daniel first worked for the railroad and was later employed by Metal Powder Components in Coldwater, from which he retired in 2004. In retirement, he worked part-time as an attendant at the Citgo gas station in Coldwater.
He enjoyed tinkering with motors and model cars. He enjoyed watching TV, especially game shows, and joking with his family.
Survivors include Daniel’s children, Edward (Liz) Hamlin of Indiana, Peggy (Rick) Miller of Coldwater, Jerry (Carol) Vond of Lawton, Leroy (Diane) Vond of Bartlesville, OK, Vivian (Jon) McCurley of Battle Creek and Beverly (Bobby Thornton) Rose of Coldwater; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his siblings, Norma (Henry) Findley of Coldwater and Dale Gordon of Coldwater; and his former son-in-law, David Rose of Quincy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ina (2006); son, Michael Vond, brother, Bernard Vond and two grandsons, Dakota and Brock.
