UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Volunteer Fire Department celebrated its 120th birthday Wednesday.
The Village Council established the fire department on August 14, 1899.
The first rules called for able bodied men between the ages of 18 and 50 and that firefighters would get 25 cents a call.
They also called for the fire department to consist of not less than ten or more than fifteen members.
