LANSING, MI (WTVB) – It appears there will not be a separate plan put forth by majority Republicans in the state Senate on coming up with money to fix Michigan’s roads.
Instead, Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey says they will work with Governor Whitmer and House Republicans on trying to put $2.5 billion a year into roads.
Shirkey expressed optimism on “Delaney in the Morning” this past Monday that an announcement would be coming within two weeks. He said they are going to re-prioritize current spending and apply it to Michigan’s roads.
Shirkey believes the Democratic governor is evaluating several alternatives from the GOP to her proposed 45-cent per gallon fuel tax hike which has been highly criticized.
