MUSKEGON, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School girls varsity volleyball team opened their season on Saturday with a second place finish at the Muskegon Reeths-Puffer Rocket Volleyball Tournament.
The Cardinals went 3-1 in round robin pool play which earned them a number two seed. They beat North Muskegon 25-12, 17-25, 17-15. They then lost to Mona Shores 18-25, 22-25 before beating both Reeths-Puffer 25-18, 25-13 and Spring Lake 25-18, 13-25, 15-12.
Coldwater defeated North Muskegon 2-0 (25-20, 25-20) in the semifinals. They then lost to Mona Shores 2-0 (21-25, 20-25) in the finals.

The Bronson girls volleyball team finished third at the Carrie Adams Invitational in Battle Creek on Saturday. They defeated Hanover-Horton (25-23, 25-19), Otsego (25-18, 25-16) and Athens (25-14, 25-7) in pool play.
The Vikings then defeated Hanover-Horton (25-15, 25-18) in the quarterfinals before losing to Centreville (19-25, 23-25) in the semifinals.

Union City’s girls volleyball went 1-2-1 at the Carrie Adams Memorial Tournament in Battle Creek on Saturday. They went 1-1-1 in pool play. The Chargers tied Hillsdale 17-25, 25-23, defeated Garden City 25-15, 25-21 and lost to Battle Creek Saint Phillip 14-25, 10-25. They lost to Athens in the Silver Bracket 2-1 (26-24, 21-25, 7-15).
