COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man was arraigned on Monday in Branch County District Court following a weekend chase involving several police agencies and the Branch County Sheriff’s Department K-9 “Chaos”.
Bond for 32-year-old Mathew Lawrence Stansbury has been set at $40,000 and his probable cause hearing is scheduled for September 5, 2019.
He was charged for allegedly leading deputies from the Branch County Sheriff’s Department, a Michigan State Police trooper and a Michigan Department of Natural Resources officer on a vehicle and foot pursuit Saturday that started near Bronson and ended in a field in the southern part of Branch County.
Stansbury was finally apprehended by DNR Officer Nick Wellman and State Police trooper Eric Iden after a foot chase that lasted for over a mile.
Among the charges he is facing are three counts of resisting and obstructing, driving while license is suspended, failure to report accident, and fourth degree fleeing and eluding from a police officer.
