BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – A preliminary exam for a Calhoun County woman who is facing charges in the death of her mother has been delayed.
46-year-old Marcia Lutz is facing a felony count of concealing a death and a misdemeanor for failing to report a body.
The Battle Creek Enquirer reports the preliminary exam was delayed Tuesday until October 2, 2019 after defense attorney Peter Taylor asked to have a psychiatrist testify about Lutz’s competency to stand trial.
The body of 74-year-old Phyllis Lutz was found buried outside her home on Four Mile Road in Leroy Township south of Battle Creek last January after her friends had not heard from her since September 2018.
Investigators think that is the time she died.
