SPRINGPORT, MI (WTVB) – In high school cross country Coldwater’s girls were second while the boys finished sixth in the Division One portion of the Springport Invitational Wednesday. Marshall beat out Coldwater for the top spot in the girls meet.
Coldwater’s Elka Machan with a time of 18:22 earned runner-up individual honors, losing only to Stockbridge’s Rylee Tolson by 10 seconds. Other Coldwater medal winners in the girls meet were Carolyn Potter, Cece DeWitt, Ezma Machan and Erika Parkinson.
Three Coldwater boys, Kyle Foulk, Antonio Potter and Myron Lafty earned medals. Foulk had a top ten finish with a time of 17:05.
In the Division Two races, both of the Quincy squads finished fourth. Rhett Reif was the top finisher for the Orioles in the boys meet as he was fourth in a time of 17:59. He was one of three Quincy boys to earn medals with top ten finishes. Jacob Reif was eighth and Eric Butchart was tenth.
Five Quincy girls earned medals with top 30 finishes. The Quincy girls were led by Makenzie Blatter who finished in the top ten. Also earning medals were Mollie Butchart, Kailey Allmen, Elise Wright and Harley Daniels.
