COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Administrator Bud Norman told the Board of Commissioners during their work session Thursday that crews have begun site clearing work at the site of the new Branch County Jail.
Norman added requests for proposals have been sent out for design assist covering electrical, mechanical and fire suppression, as well as for the tree clearing.
When questioned by Commissioner Terri Norris, Norman indicated what happened Thursday at the site of the new jail was an unofficial groundbreaking. Norman said, “somebody asked yesterday when are you breaking ground? Well, we broke today.”
A millage request for the new jail was approved by voters in August 2018.
