CENTREVILLE, MI (WTVB) – In high school cross country Saturday, Coldwater competed at the Centreville Invitational which featured runners from 24 high schools. Nine Coldwater runners brought home medals.
In the Junior/Senior A-B races, the Cardinals were sixth in the boys meet while the girls were third. Coldwater’s Elka Machan won the gold medal in the girls race in a time of 18:54.6. Cece DeWitt was eighth, Aspen Yearling was 24th, Kaitlyn Parkinson was 26th and Erika Parkinson was 30th.
Kyle Foulk was third in the boys race with a time of 17:36.6. Antonio Potter was 22nd. The Coldwater girls were third in the Freshman/Sophomore A-B race. Legend Szafranski won the gold medal in the girls race with a time of 21:39.5. Carolyn Potter was third, Ezma Machan was 12th and Sarah Forrister was 29th.
Union City also competed at Centreville but did not have enough runners for team scores. Owen Needham was 22nd in the Junior/Senior C-D boys race. Colin Priest was 24th.
The Quincy and Bronson Cross Country teams competed at the Battle Creek Lakeview Invitational Saturday. Quincy won the Small Schools Boys race while Bronson was third. Quincy’s Eric Butchart was third in a time of 17:14.9. Rhett Reif was fourth, Jacob Reif was seventh, Brady Harper was 19th and Caden Moore was 28th.
Bronson’s Ashton Wells was 10th. Aden Hathaway was 11th, Reagan Mayer was 16th, Brayden Ransbottom was 17th, Preston Wronikowski was 18th, Tanner Norton was 24th and Perry Lake was 26th.
Quincy finished second in the Small Schools Girls race. Bronson did not have enough runners for a team score. Bronson’s Abby Ware was fourth. Grace Welch was fifth, Danis Silva was 11th and Jenna Salek was 13th.
Quincy’s Avery Rufenacht was sixth, Makenzie Blatter was ninth, Mollie Butchart was 16th, Kailey Allman was 17th, Zoe Smith was 21st, Harley Daniels was 24th and Abigail Harmon was 26th.
