BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Two occupants of a home that caught fire late Tuesday night west of Bronson managed to get to safety thanks to their dog whose barking woke them up.
Bronson Fire Chief Scott Wilber says firefighters were dispatched to 1224 West Chicago in Bronson Township just before 11:00 p.m..
Fire crews arrived to find smoke coming from a one-story house. Firefighters entered the house and quickly put out a fire in the living room.
The two occupants were sleeping in a bedroom.
After their dog woke them up, they were forced to escape out the bedroom window due to smoke and heat.
Fire crews were on scene for two and a half hours.
Wilber says the damage is estimated at $10,000 to the contents and $25,000 to the building. There were no injuries.
Bronson Police and Lifecare Ambulance also responded to the scene.
