MARSHALL, MI (WTVB) – Marshall scored two goals within two minutes of each other during the second half, and held on for a 2-1 win over Coldwater Tuesday night in boys high school Interstate 8 Conference varsity soccer.
After a scoreless first half, Marshall scored with 25 minutes left and 23 minutes left in the game. Coldwater cut the lead to one with a goal from Mubarak Said with 11:28 to play, assisted by Amine Mohammed.
Ahmed Salem had seven saves in goal, as the 15th ranked Cardinals fell to 1-1 in the Interstate 8 Conference and 4-4 overall. They will play at Pennfield Thursday.
Marshall, ranked 12th this week in the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association Division 2 poll, improved to 2-0 in the conference and 8-1-1 overall.
The Coldwater JV team beat Marshall 7-0. Brayden Boyd scored three goals, with two for Ryadh Muflihi, and one each for Hisham Zamzami and Joseph Closson.
Bauston Feldbauer made three saves in goal to earn the shutout.
